Creative Education Management Ltd. has been awarded the Gold Award for "Best Diversity & Inclusion Strategy Award" at the CTgoodjobs Best HR Awards 2022.
"People-oriented" is the core value of human resources. When facing diverse talents, it's essential to make flexible arrangements during processes to ensure employees feel satisfied with their work and are willing to stay with the company. Creative Education demonstrates unique diversity in recruitment, employing individuals from various countries and regions, and has established a "Cross-Generational" program that makes it easier to find suitable talent while fostering employee growth, creating a win-win situation.
Patrick Cheung, Director and School Administration Manager of Creative Education, stated that for the 2022-2023 fiscal year, in addition to local employees, the company has recruited full-time, part-time, and freelance staff from Pakistan, India, Canada, the UK, and South Africa, making up 5% of all tutors, with a gender ratio of 3:7. The company applies uniform standards for different nationalities to ensure there is no perception of differential treatment. Patrick added, "Before hiring non-local tutors, we ensure to understand their backgrounds, such as any religious or cultural differences that might conflict with the school's, ensuring all tutors meet the school's requirements."
Building an Inclusive Workplace Across Generations
The company is committed to creating a workplace that embraces generational diversity, launching the "Retired Teachers Return to Campus" program, which employs 15 retired teachers and tutors aged between 55 and 86. This initiative helps them embark on a new chapter in their careers. Patrick revealed, "The youngest tutor in our company is 17 years old, and the oldest is 86, with a 69-year age gap. We believe that all retired teachers are not only valuable assets to our students but can also provide special inspiration to the new generation of teachers." Through the sharing of personal teaching experiences from older tutors, younger teachers can enhance their learning and teaching abilities, significantly improving the quality of the courses.
With employees of various ages and nationalities, conflicts may arise at work. The company advocates for problem-solving through communication. "Colleagues form a team, and the causes of issues are not solely individual; rather, they reflect the whole group's dynamics. Therefore, when problems arise, as long as each member of the team shares a commitment to resolving the issues and maintains a positive attitude, even the most challenging problems can be addressed."
Patrick emphasized that as businesses develop, they should try to expand into different areas and sectors, bringing together individuals and matters with diverse characteristics. This strategy plays a long-term and healthy role in the growth and stability of the business.
